Susie Millar, whose great grandfather Thomas Millar died upon the Titanic, shows us around Belfast – birthplace of Titanic.

Video Introduction:

My name is Susie Millar and I am writing a book about my families Titanic connections.  I have Titanic in my blood.  I have a direct bloodline connection to Titanic, my great grandfather Tommy Millar was on board the night she sank.  I am always looking for new stuff about Tommy to find out what he was up to and just put a little bit more to the story.

Watch our video and hear the story of one of the victims in the sinking of the Titanic.

I find it well that you endeavor to find out all you can of your grandfather, and your video has helped me as well..as I have an old penny from the same era I just could not remember where it had come from..when I saw the two pennies in your video, I recalled an Irishman in Shannon had given it to me for luck as I was about to depart for the war in Iraq. I will say it worked, as I survived multiple combat tours in Iraq and Afghanistan and am now about to retire feeling quite lucky to have done so. And thanks to you and your video, I know where the luck came from. =)

Dear Susie,
Thank you for keeping the memories and the history of those who worked in the shipyard during the construction and the sailing away of the Titanic alive. My Great Grandfather was a carpenter who did woodwork on the Titanic and my Grandfather was a shipwright when the Titanic sailed away . The story was passed down to my mother who spoke of the grief and sense of loss felt in Belfast when the Titanic went down. As well, she spoke of the courage and sacrifice of those who were lost on the maiden voyage and the admiration those in Belfast had for those who went down with her. My parents emigrated to Chicago in the early fifties, however my 85 year old mother still speaks of the many men my Great Grandfather and Grandfather knew who sailed away working on that maiden voyage who were lost and the courage they had.
Regards from Chicago

Hello Susie
We're thinking of you and all the people of Northern Ireland at this special time in history. My wife and I also look back with fondness to the day in 2008 when you showed us around the Titanic sites. It was a very special day.

Hello Susie,
Saw you in Belfast with crazy Joe N. Royal Irish Tours last September. We were a Canadian tour. I was one of the Nova Scotians who knew the history. A family member of mine is taking up quite a quest on this side of the Atlantic. Look up Rosalee Peppard on the web. I just heard that CTV will be going to Belfast for the celebrations. Rosalee is a music historian. Her current venture is celebrating the life of the last survivor of that voyage. I have a feeling your hair is a different colour now, ha! You did a terrific job at expressing your passionate love for all things Titanic and Belfast. I know you are very busy now but let me know if you want to make contact with Rosalee and I will forward you photos of her in costume, created my my sister, Lark Peppard. Good luck with the celebrations! Beryl and Lynn from NS.
