Titanic Facts

There is a world of Titanic facts at your disposal. The Titanic is one of the most fascinating and enduring stories of all time. What is it which makes Titanic such a subject of fascination for so many people around the world? Perhaps it is the very nature of the story itself. The world’s largest ship, on its maiden voyage and carrying some of the world’s richest people has a freak accident on her maiden voyage with a catastrophic loss of life.

Loss of Life

Hundreds of lives were lost amongst the poorer passengers on the ship, many of them sailing to the new world to find better opportunities for themselves and their families. If the story of Titanic were produced as a work of fiction, people would have difficulty believing that such a widespread tragedy could happen.  Within that rope of broader story there are threads of smaller stories which weave together to produce a fascinating tale.

A Story of Tragedy

There are stories of heroism, cowardice, loyalty, leadership and tragedy. There are many reasons why people are drawn to the story of Titanic and want to find out more facts about how and why the Titanic was built, the pioneering engineering, the intricacies of her journey and the fatal errors which in hindsight seem so basic. Some people will be interested in facts on how Titanic was built, some will be more concerned with the stories of people who sailed on her.
Some people are fascinated by the discovery of the wreck and the artefacts which have been recovered. Whichever your particular interest in the Titanic, we want to put all these varying pieces of information into manageable categories of Titanic Facts for you and present the most interesting, the most up to date and in some cases, the most bizarre. Consider this as your “go to” site for Titanic facts, reference, explanation, exploration and trivia.

I can't believe all the stories I heard. It must have been a tragic part of history.

Well the Titanic had a worldwide impact and it had 4 funnels I think. It could have been prevented if they had not left their binoculars at Southampton and only taken 700 instead of 2010 passengers.

"You have a famous second cousin (or did he say third) boys", my dad said to my brother and I. His name was Harold S Bride and he was the junior Marconi officer who survived. I was ten years old, my brother, six. I am now 78 and he is 74 and we wished we had asked all the right questions back then but children don't. Maybe you know? How long after the Washington DC hearings did Harold Bride stay in the US? Where? Did he marry here? Was she American? What was her maiden name? When he returned to Europe, did he return to London? Was he British? Please....and thank you!!!

I am 10 and I even know that they didn't say she was unsinkable, they said it was PRACTICALLY UNSINKABLE. She was made of iron so she can sink and she did 99 years ago. I feel so sorry for all the people that died

Titanic is one of my favourite stories. But I am really sorry for those who died. The Titanic struck an iceberg and sunk on April 12th at 2:10 o'clock. Everybody thought the Titanic was unsinkable, but the guy who made Titanic knew it could sink. I also wish I could have a model of the Titanic and see the movie. I heard the movie is really good.

I think the Titanic was absolutely amazing. It had so many wonders like its size and features!

I am 10 years old and my class are doing a topic on water. I chose the Titanic and icebergs because it is my favourite film of all time. I love the film, I was in hysterics when it was all happening and couldn't stop when Rose died in her sleep. I also LOVE the Titanic itself. I am a Titanic nut.

The last person that was alive was Millvina Dean, she survived on the Titanic but she died in 2009. It would be nice to ask her some questions about the Titanic! She was 9 weeks old at the time of the sinking. It would have been nice to talk to her about the Titanic! Does anyone agree? But what happened is so sad, I feel so bad for those people! Let the people be at rest and let the Titanic ship rest in peace in its watery grave.
