Titanic Play: The Wireless Room

On April 14th 1912, hundreds of wireless radio communications filled the air over the mid-Atlantic. Were it not for Marconi's wireless telegraph system and the bravery of the wireless operators, there may have been no survivors to tell the tale of the Titanic, the most famous sinking in history.

Titanic Play: The Wireless Room Date: Friday 20th April 2012 Times: 8.00pm Admission: £7.00 On April 14th 1912, hundreds of wireless radio communications filled the air over the mid-Atlantic. Were it not for Marconi's wireless telegraph system and the bravery of the wireless operators, there may have been no survivors to tell the tale of the Titanic, the most famous sinking in history. In this exciting new piece of audio theatre, on the 100th anniversary of the sinking, WMT – On the Air presents the radio signals that went out on that fateful night: from Titanic herself; from neighbouring ships; from land-bases and newspapers. Using ships’ logs and the reports of the one surviving wireless man, the audioplay weaves wireless messages with music and sound effects to recreate the sound of the night to remember.
